The scrap tire industry has come a long way from nothing. Just 30 years ago, there were mountains of used tires littering communities throughout the United States.

It is estimated that there are more than a billion passenger vehicles in the world. Imagine the number of tires that will be eventually disposed of. In the United States alone, an estimated 300 million tires are discarded every year. Where do you think those tires would end up?

Tire recycling may not be at the forefront of many people’s minds, but that makes it no less important. The problem is that the very thing we like in tires—tough, durable construction—makes them a challenge to recycle. However, they can still be very much recycled; in fact, millions a year are recycled!
