The Municipal Demonstration Grant Program was established in 2000 by the Alberta Recycling Management Authority. The Grant Program provides municipalities, community organizations and other non-profit groups to purchase recycled tire products/material, made from eligible Alberta scrap tires, for use in public projects.

To date $10.8 million has been awarded to over 630 project applicants for recycled tire products/material that have been installed in parks, arenas, walking trails, recreational facilities etc. Since the inception of Alberta’s tire recycling program in 1992, 120 million scrap tires have been recycled.

Alberta Recycling is inviting the submission of completed Grant Program applications in the form set out herein from 'eligible applicants'.

All application must be submitted by November 14, 2019 at 4:30 pm

  1. Eligible applicants:

 Municipalities, including cities, towns, villages, municipal districts, Special Areas, hamlets, summer villages or towns, under the Parks Act.

 Registered non-profit community organizations

 Indigenous Communities within the Province of Alberta



  1. Funding available to a maximum of $30,000:

Funding is only for the purchase of surfacing materials manufactured with recycled tire products/material from eligible Alberta scrap tires. Funding is provided as follow:

a) For recycled tire products/material used in the project: ARMA will match the Applicant's contribution up to a maximum of $30,000.

b) Examples of eligible surfacing material include, but are not limited to, roofing, pour-in-place, sidewalk tile, indoor tile, and rubber matting.

 Funding under the Grant Program is payable based on the actual expenses incurred by the Applicant in completing the project was evidenced by receipts and invoice provided by the Applicant to ARMA and not on the eligible expense quotations provide with the Grant Application.

 GST is not included in the funding.
